Jack and the Lemon Tree is my final work at animation master's degree studies. Work had begun in September 2010, when the first pre-final synopsis was finished. Work is still in progress.

Animals

Whale and some background characters - crab and one of the seagulls. Seagulls will be used in wide shots so they can be low-res.

Barge model + texture

Here is finalized model of fishing boat. Still working on major update (modeling props and drawing the rest of concepts). Stay tuned...

Here is an example of texture - I tried to achieve painted look of the models. it is hard to notice in wide shots, but it`s handy in closeups. And in my opinion every single detail matters.

Evil Jack modeled and textured

Jack is now fully modeled and textured. As I said before, Jack had changed. Proportions are diferent and doesn't look so "carved" anymore. In textures I tried to achieve a hand-painted feel. Also I like low-poly look, smoothing isn't working very well - Jack lost some of his "character". Now he still looks a bit like a wooden puppet - what was my intention. In addition - due to low vertex-count rigging will be easy. Hopefuly.

Family portrait

Recenty I made another sketch of Jack (he is sitting on whale's back and fishing using his cell-phone antenna as a fishing rod). Also made a family portrait, to see how chracters work together to adjust their proportions.

Some early character concepts

Here are some very quick sketches of caharaters. These are only concepts, 3d model always looks absolutely diferent. I tried to exaggerate everything - modeling proces will definitely change the look of a character.
Jack - main character and his evil & good version

Lucy - his wife

Drunkard from harbor - minor character
